This was a busy cruise for me. See below for details on what I organized on this cruise.
Istanbul:
Full day tour of the main sights with a guide and amazing lunch. Saw the palace, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and Grand Bazar. What a great day.
Kusadasi:
Full day tour with our guide Hakkan. Best guide I have had. Virgin Mary’s house, St-John’s Basilica, silk carpet tour, a local mosque, and the best turkish lunch ever. More food than you could eat in an amazing outdoor setting on a local farm.
Bodrum:
Guided tour of the Castle and Maritime/underwater museum. What a great castle and museum. We then walked through town to see the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus (ancient wonder of the world..or what it left of it). This was followed by another great local meal. Home cooked and no menus, just what ever momma in the kitchen decided to make that day for patrons.
Rhodes:
Tour of Lindos. Ancient Acropolis at the top of a hill overlooking the island and the sea. Magnificent views and for the brave members of FOET a donkey ride up the hill. After a half day exploring the ruins and walking through the town of Lindos, we went for a seaside lunch. FOET tours must always have good food and drink.
Crete:
Full day tour of the Palace of Knosos and archaeological museum. Amazing ruins and a great guide walking us through it all. It was a long day (I was officially the last passenger back on board), but worth it. Crete is a lovely island.
